Diva or not a diva, that is the question. I guess being on the “D” list is suppose to be a good thing but not in my book. Definition of diva in my book you ask?

Diva: Someone of the female persuasion who thinks her shit don’t stink; Person who thinks she’s better than most;

They say Donna Summers, who is suppose to be on the “D” lists, real name is LaDonna Andre Gains, born in Boston, MA, on New Years Eve, 1948. She was born third of seven children. One boy and six girls, which means to me she wasn’t born with any silver spoon in her mouth and there must have been a fight over the bathroom on a daily basis.

Her career actually started in Germany where she played in “Hair” in 1968, also playing in Musicals like Porgy and Bess and Showboat. She became the Queen of disco in 1975 with her smash hit “Love To Love You Baby” been married twice, has three children and two grandchildren. She is a born again Christian and very down to earth. She is also an accomplished painter, songwriter, and just released an autobiography entitled Ordinary Girl: The Journey and a Broadway musical based on the book.

She spoke of her life all that evening, right down to having to perform while her father was very ill, and having three concert dates to finish before being able to rush to his side…. The show must go on right? Would a diva think of her audience before herself? NOT! That evening she shared the song that got her through that ruff time in her life which was “Smile” by Charlie Chaplin, telling the audience whenever you’re feeling blue, think of that song. Would a diva sing a song by Charlie Chaplin? NOT!

That evening, there was multi classy costume changes, nothing outrageous, clothing well suited for her voluptuous figure and telling us about having the “Twins” enhanced which made me chuckle. She sang some cover songs, “Help form My Friends” to “Natural Woman” all her classics from “She Works Hard For The Money” “Bad Girl” “Hot Stuff” And ending it all with “Last Dance” with disco ball and all.

Answer to the opening question: NOT a diva! Multitalented, smart, ageless, YES!
