Welcome To
Goth Stock Review Page
Webster Theatre
Hartford, CT
Sept, 24th and
Sept. 25th Remember hearing of Woodstock? Perhaps
some of you actually experienced it. Well I was fortunate enough to have
experienced Goth Stock in Hartford, CT on Saturday night. This vision of
bringing together fifty bands of a genre of music that is misunderstood by
many, made for a remarkable evening. Devil worshipers NOT, criminals NOT.
Just musicians expressing themselves through their music like any other. Yea,
your right, the music isn’t about peace, make love not war but we no longer
live in the sixties either. We now live in the twenty-first century where
darkness surrounds us all and someone has to write about it. Death, we all die, war, a reality we
live, sex, human nature of every beast. Why not write about it. Maybe your
idea of sex is love making…who’s to determine just what that is. What happens
between two consenting adults (or more) IS love making, even if you are not
in love, HA! Who made these rules? Society? Our society as I see it is pretty
fucked up if you ask me, so why listen to their reticule. Most of society
goes by the rules they make, upon each individual, passing judgment… I don’t
know about anyone else but I was taught, not to judge a book by its cover.
Yes, most followers of gothic music do dress different, (is it not our given
right to exercise our freedom of expression?) and the artist’s who supply
their fetish to hear what they perhaps are experiencing or feeling. Anyway, I guess what I’m getting at
is the music of these hard working, bands who are craving to be heard, write
about what I mentioned above. Dead Emotion, with singer/song writer/musician,
founder of New Goth America, creator of Goth Stock, Charles Cudd, with the
help of Marina Chernova, two of their songs come to mind “Nothing To Die For”
which can be taken in different
context depending on who you are
and “Bytch” well, there is no mistaking what that’s about. Nothing like a
good spanking, hmmm?! If you want more information on Dead
Emotion and hear there music, better yet, watch their videos go to http://www.deademotion.com. Marina, who graces the stage with her sensual
movements and soothing vocals, accompanied by the bands melodic melodies, all
melding as one. Kitty Benedict on bass, charismatic, with a beautiful soul
came through on the stage for me that evening not missing a beat. Working it
for Dead Emotion as well, Charles Cudd, I could see and feel his emotion with
every cord, as the tips of his fingers made his way up and down his guitar,
adding to the harmonies, although not to busy to give a smile. Also included
in the line up Scott and John, both much needed assets adding to the sound
with keys and drums. That evening, a young musician also
who has the craving, not for blood, but to be heard, Ben Kopec of Intricate
Unit, sings a song about Society as we know it, brain washed by those who are
suppose to be our leaders. The song, “Vaccination Nation” which you can see
on Concert Connections. Another favorite, (we all have
favorites and this does not mean one artists is better than the other) Anders Manga, in my opinion,
deserving of the main stage and a more appropriate time slot, who’s
characteristics and dark charm is not short of talent. Having chatted outside
the venue, taking photos, I found him debonair. Sporting a suit and long blonde
hair. Not your typical goth look of all black was refreshing. Although, I
didn’t get to see him perform, Anders was courteous to send me five music
videos which can be seen on the show as well. “Heart Of Black” Stole my
heart. Check him out at http://www.andersmanga.com Concluding this review I have to
say thank you Charles for welcoming Bill and I into your dark realm and
giving us a night to remember. It truly was a memory that will last a life
time as Woodstock memories are still spoke of till today, we have Goth Stock! SUPPORT INDEPENDENT MUSIC! Kelly Roadway Hajduk Of Concert Connections ***** Line Up Collapse into Reason Mastermind Doomtree Voice of Dissension Dead Emotion Carfax Abbey Zen Vodou Combichrist
