Welcome To

Korn

Mohegan Sun Arena

March 24th, 2006

It was Friday night; adrenalin was running high because I was going to photograph one of the hottest bands of today.

My fist encounter with Korn was back in the day when they opened for Life of Agony on Ozzy’s Retirement Sucks Tour back in 1996. I personally thought Korn was better than the headlining acts and have proven that. Life of Agony don’t exist and The Prince of Darkness, although I adore him is failing once again, slow but sure in my opinion.

Security was on high alert. Massive security and men in blue. My informant told me Mohegan Sun was freaking about this show and expected trouble. I guess they were judging a book by its cover. It didn’t stop the ole familiar smell of maryjane, which reminded me of the old days. There were people ranging from ten to fifty I’d say sporting Mohawks, tats galore, Goth’s, punk ass kids that looked like wanksters (MEANING OF WANKSTER: A wanna be gangster). and everyday people. To my knowledge, everything went smooth, and all were just into the music. Lots of jumping up and down, and fists held high in the air. This was VERY high energy show with opening acts Mudvayne and Ten Years.

I entered the photo pit with ease. No security pushing me or questioning me for a change. It’s On was first after a two and a half minute intro, the red curtain opened with a prompt start at nine pm. Their stood Davis, dreads and all. The microphone was a silver abstract sculpture of a nude woman, very different then I have ever scene and tasteful. The band then played Clown, right into Divine. After song seven, Munky then went into his guitar solo working both sides of the stage. By song thirteen, the moment I was waiting for, a Medley of Shoots and Ladders, which included Need To, Lies, Make me Bad, Thoughtless, ADIDAS, and Twist. It was at that point Davis came out in his black kilt and bagpipes. The crowd went wild, throwing their fists in the air roaring once again! Korn did a total of twenty songs in a two hour performance with ease, ending the evening with Freak on a Leash and Blind. It was at that time When Davis said “this is the song that put us on the map” How True!

*Korn is now off to Canada and Asia to keep promoting See you on the Other Side.

*Korn turned down Ozzfest for this year because Korn wants to do their own type of tour for their fans.

* Munky will be working on his own solo project.

*Watch for Concert Connections one hour special on Korn… keep checking our website for date and time.
