Welcome To
TESLA MOHEGAN SUN ARENA JUNE 27TH, 2005
A five man acoustical band jammed at the
Mohegan Sun arena on a not so typical Monday night. A five man acoustical
band you ask? Well, Tesla teemed up with all five original members that
evening. Jeff Keith, Vocals, Frank Hannon electric and acoustic guitar, lets
not forget keyboard too, Troy Luccketta, drums, Tommy Skeoch, electric guitar
and Brian Wheat, bass guitar played one of my favorite song entitled “Signs”
which was originally done by The Five Man Acoustical Band back in nineteen
seventy-two. I guess it must be the verse “long haired freaky people need not
apply” in which I fall under the category. Actually, knowing every word to
this song hits home to the world then and even more so today. There was no glamorous stage
setting, just their original backdrop sporting their name with lightning
bolts in the fashion they do at every show. They hit the stage right on time
making me sweat my ass off to get that perfect shot from the photo pit. No
wonder Jeff is so thin, the man doesn’t stop moving for a second. They were
fantastic! Frank seems to have a witty side to him, sporting numerous hats
and smiling the whole time, although he does have a serious side when it
comes down to playing the acoustic which he does so well. He’s very talented
and diverse. The band
played many familiar tunes including Heavens Trail (No Way Out). Another one
of my fav’s. There was no shortage of ass kicking being mentioned on and off
stage. I think they are a kick ass band and it was a kick ass show…excuse the
pun. Off stage you’re saying to yourself? I was surprised by management with
a meet and greet I didn’t expect. Upon meeting these great bunch of guys,
while taking photos, Frank said “We can’t get too close” or my wife will kick
my ass and yours” (yea right, as if she could). My response to that was,
well, you see the guy who’s taking the photos, he’s MY husband who will kick
everyone’s ass! We all got a chuckle posing for photos. Tommy was sporting a
Yankees Tee shirt which totally enthralled me to see he was a Yankees fan.
Brian, rather reserved wearing a CBGB’S tee which brought up a discussion of
the place closing. Keith was a great sport, letting me photograph him
throwing up the horns. All in all, it was a memorable evening of a good ass
kicking by Tesla! Set
