The Zombies Review

What’s your name, what’s your name, who’s your daddy, who’s your daddy, is he rich like me… a verse from the song “Time Of The Season” (Which aired on a episode of the Simpsons). One of my all time favorite songs of yesterday and still a favorite today. Hard to believe this song came out in 1969 and I remember it like yesterday. Although I was just a little kid, I guess the reason why I remember songs like that one so well is because rather than the TV being on in my home growing up, it was the radio. I also had two older siblings as well as my parents who turned me on to much music way before my time. Although this single was nothing but an after thought according to Rod Argent, original member of the Zombies who plays keys, was their biggest hit.

Also joining Rod on stage that night was original vocalist, Colin Blunstone, very nice chaps I must say, both holding my hand listening to every comment as a child listening to their favorite fairy tale. Also that evening we heard their first hit which was “Tell Her No” which came out in 1965 a long with another favorite “Hold your Head up” which got me up on my feet. I no longer could just sit there another minute. They played some new music as well, where they have each branched off into separate careers although reuniting for this tour, they shared the Lime Light with each others individual music styles like “Mystified” which was kind of bluesy and a cover of a old song “What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted”, “Change The Pace” Collin’s solo album with “Misty Roses” which was jazz and “Indication” which was slow, weird and progressive.

All and all it was positive. The vocals, the music, meeting the guy’s everything came together in such a wonderful intimate setting, ending the evening with the song “Summertime” the perfect evening for a change!
